We did a 50 miler on the Colorado near Moab, but real canoes.
Had decent preparation and a guide. Still nearly had one scout drown in an eddy. Danger on a big river can go from 0 to a 100 so quickly.

How many people had the chance to speak up and didn't? Or who had the final say?

We did that when I was a scout, but made them out of wood and canvass

We did the same thing (make kayaks from wood and canvas)

Then your scout leaders weren’t too bright either. 67 miles in a canoe made by a

Yeah I can see how some people would think that

It’s not dumb to do hard things. It’s dumb to go nearly 70 miles in canoes made by teenagers on fast water

Well yeah. I’m all for river trips. I don’t think anyone would say “how can anyone take scouts on river trips”?

100% depends on the expertise of the people involved. I agree that there are very very few people who would be

What you describe is the difference between well planned & executed & not.

“If done correctly” to me is having real canoes that a professional made.

Just because you don't know how to make a canoe correctly, doesn't mean no one..
