In the passing lane, I thought for sure it would cause a tragic accident. I pulled over in the emergency lane, called 911 (someone else had already reported it). There was a lot of south-bound traffic in both lanes so it took me some time to run out and drag it off the road.
As I stood there trying to wave my arms to slow down traffic, my heart was pounding and there was a couple of moments where I thought, "here it is... I'm going to witness a terrible accident." The things that were breaking off the bottom of a couple low cars was loud, as they ran over the ladder.
Let's just say the ladder is no longer a usable ladder.
