I'm not sure you understand some of the concepts we've discussed here, including your use of the word "prove".

1) The absence of digs against BYU in some Trib articles does not PROVE that there are NOT regular or frequent digs in other BYU (or church) articles. That is a logical fallacy to suggest such.

2) The "hyperbole" to which I referred, and should have been obvious from the portion of my post you quoted, was that the Trib can't write anything without a dig a BYU. That's hyperbole for effect, man. Most rational people recognize this.

3) The Trib is indeed failing. They have been struggling for quite some time, but have dropped off substantially as of late. This isn't opinion. What IS my opinion is the "why". The DesNews seems to be doing ok, whereas the Trib is not. My opinion is that, in part (only in part!) the Trib has a DESERVED reputation of being overly critical to both the major religion in the state, and the university with the largest fan base in the state (most of whom also belong to that same church). It shouldn't be too controversial to suggest that, if you regularly or frequently poke at a good percentage of your potential readership, they may not want to pay for that "privilege".
