Meh. Players requesting trades, even with preferred destinations, is a full step removed from free agency
Players are under contract with their teams. They are using their leverage in that scenario to get out. The team can say no. The team can trade him somewhere else (Kawhi to Toronto, PG to OKC). Even under contract players should be able to exercise whatever leverage they have.
