My bishop test flew the SR-71
I don't remember what he said its designation was, just that it was unpainted and had not been delivered to wherever it was going. He said it was very boring to fly, but this was a guy who flew forward air control on the tree tops of Vietnam in a piper cub. 🙂 The one story I remember (sort of, it has been 16 or 17 years) is he got in trouble, because he loaned his space suit to a former Air Force buddy then working for Martin Marrieta iirc and test flying either the x-15 or x-24. It turns out the Air Force doesn't like sharing. Crazy cold war times.

I was fortunate enough to visit an Air Force museum where he talked about many of the planes he flew in combat or in testing. Sadly, his brother died testing the F-4.
