It's like the music industry pre-mp3s
You make some good points. I do think the Internet is gradually changing the cost and competitive market for content creation and video delivery. Before the high speed Internet we have today the infrastructure costs of laying cable/fiber to every house or putting satellites in space make regional or global video distribution cost prohibitive with huge barriers to entry. High quality video equipment and studios also made content creation too expensive for many people to do.

Fast forward to today, where anyone can create a video with fairly high quality equipment, the assistance of AI, low cost special efftects, etc. That video can be distributed globally freely or at very low cost over the Internet. The foundation of the old-school industry is completely changing. The days of cable companies being pretty much the only option and a few content providers are coming to an end. Their business models will have to change as well. A

t some point they are going to have to unbundle the channels few people want, just like the market eventually forced the record companies to unbundle albums with a majority of songs nobody wanted. MP3 sharing forced their hand. Video bundles need to go the same way. The providers can only fight what their customers want for so long. It is only a matter of time and it cannot come soon enough for me.

The good news for the niche channels that few people want in the bundle, is that they can globally distribute via the Internet. The long tail of the Internet hurts them being bundles, but helps them, if they have an audience out there.
