Some of the family (wife and 1 daughter) like the kayak better. Everyone else likes the paddle boards. Everytime I try to leave the kayak at home, I get overruled.

I like the kayak but get uncomfortable fairly quick (not as svelt add I used to be). But like had been mentioned, paddle board has many positions (stand, sit, kneel, lay down) to stay comfortable. Plus, when I'm on my knees or sitting, my speed isn't much different than when I'm in kayak, though it's not as nimble. You can get a kayak seat and paddle for the paddle board too.
