I'd honestly hike the Rubicon, I might just do that myself.
You can hike it significantly faster than you can drive it. And you could set it up for 2-3 nights or even a single day to Loon Lake and back.
Gorgeous country. We did it in 2 days 1 night, but spend too much time trying to get the Jeep through that I didn't get to enjoy Rubicon Springs (highly recommend reserving a campsite here) or any of the lakes along the way.
I want to go back really bad.
