NFL had replay, a two plays before that Jerry Rice fumbled the ball. But he was called down. But bad calls without replay, etc were part of the game. You can't go back in basketball games before the 3 point line and say certain teams would have won because their shots were made from far enough back to be three pointers after the rule change. Or games that would have been changed due to penalties had other rules been in place like the defenseless receiver, defensive three seconds, etc...
