But to be honest, I can't remember in recent years where the Ute wideouts got behind the BYU corners or safeties. I remember Dres Anderson turning a shorter pass into a longer touchdown. I remember connecting on some deep routes where the BYU corner made the tackle right as the ball was caught. I guess Samson Nacua's touchdown from last year might be an example, although that was a 15 yard pass, not a deep pass. I just don't recall seeing Ute wideouts sprinting open down field past the BYU secondary.
So, either Kehl and I are both wrong about the speed difference between the teams, or BYU plays with a considerable cushion so it doesn't give up the deep ball. Either way, Utah throwing over the top hasn't been the difference in the games. Maybe the threat of Utah going over the top....
