It was a known problem BEFORE he arrived in Provo and Gary knew all about it. They coached together with the Bears so he was painfully aware. In fact, it was Gary who came up with the "solution" to deal with the problem. Horrible judgment on Crowton's part. He's a nice guy and he was just trying to help his buddy, but putting Mike on the BYU staff was an atrociously bad decision. A bad decision for Crowton, a bad situation for Borich and his poor family who paid the heaviest price, and a decision that certainly merited firing as it escalated and Crowton still didn't fire him. Yet Gary was still OK with having him at the coaches convention after YEARS of this stuff.
