I heard another coworker who has a rental mention this last week.

I wasn't sure if he was correct, but wouldn't be surprised.

I know at least 2 co-workers who got a physician to classify their ankle biter as an emotional support animal just so they can fly with their lap dognand avoid an airline pet fee.

The only protection should be for service animals, IMHO. Not emotional support animal. Ridiculous.

So, if you are renting out your house and specifically state "no pets", the renters can still have a pet w/o telling you

I think it's just service animals protected by the ADA but it is illegal to bar service dogs.

Yep. So many pet owners abuse that law by faking the need for one

It is a crime to fake it but if you're alleging that people are faking the need for an ESA, that is part of the stigma

Thing is ESA animals only apply to housing - totally ok to get them out of store

With the proper papers, ESA animals are protected under the ADA

I couldn't remember on ESAs, though I know you can get the paperwork without doctors note for $60 online.

Sorry it’s not the ADA, but rather the FHA - fair housing act that allows them.

In the state of Utah you could still evict them for that depending on how many properties you own.
