That's not how it works. The highest ranked *champ* from the Group of 5
gets the NY6 bowl bid. We are not in one of the Group of 5 conferences and it is thus impossible to be the highest ranked G5 champ. We are ineligible for the G5's bid to the NY6 bowl games.
We can secure the sole at large NY6 bowl bid if we finish ranked higher than the next best available non-champ, including Notre Dame. That usually means we must finish in the CFP rankings in the top 7-9 range - depending on who reaches the CFP and which schools fill the contracted NY6 bowl games.
