Sounds like what was the case with Ngata. Was President
Monson in the 12 or the Prophet when he met with Ngata.
If I remember correctly he was encouraged to pray and then go with the answer.
It I think was said he was in a way advised not to go to BYU. That could have been a rumor swirling around at the time.
I am pretty dang sure though that President Monson met with him.
