One is trying to become a better person while the latter would be an attempt to wave the BYU/LDS flag to the entire world on a very public stage. Personally, I am glad that KW took the possibility of being BYU's HC so seriously, to include asking church leadership if this were, in essence, a church calling. My only beef with him is that he shows "zero" gratitude or loyalty to BYU.
That is wrong, in my book, because without BYU Kyle would very likely not be in the place he's in now. Pretty sure he didn't have offers to play at USC, UCLA, Nebraska, Notre Dame, etc (the powerhouses of the day) and Utah back then stunk.
So again, I say, no gratitude is a serious character flaw. And claiming he can't express it because he's Utah's coach is total BS; he's been at Utah for decades now and been very successful. He's not going to be fired for saying "I am grateful for the opportunities that BYU gave me" and if he's afraid to say it for merely upsetting many Utah fans then he is still giving in to fear.
Bottom line, he's off my list of favorites until he expresses sincere, honest gratitude towards BYU.
