Brigham's university would not have been the highest-ranked so-called G5 at any time since 2011. And, we wouldn't actually even be in contention for that bowl bid more than twice or perhaps thrice a decade. Not only would we need to finish with 11 or more victories, we would need to actually prevail over Boise State and Utah State and finished ranked higher than the AAC champ (see UCF the last couple of years, Houston, Memphis, etc.) and win the bonnie-lass contest over undefeated champs from lower conferences, like '16 Western Michigan and '19 Appalachian State. That is way easier said than done.
I'm not willing to trade our long list of P5 scalps over the last several seasons in exchange for the chancer's hope of a big bowl game once or twice a decade. Did a big bowl game within the last several years help Western Michigan? Hawaii? Northern Illinois?
