This is demonstrably false...
BYU didn’t try to take anyone with them. At the time Boise, Fresno, Reno, and USU were in the wac and all BYU was going to do was join that conference in non football sports and they weren’t taking any other MWC schools with them.
Thompson then raided the WAC to prevent it. Certainly he outmaneuvered Holmoe but your claim why is false. A complete fabrication.
