The very term "midwest" comes from the ignorant easterners (specifically along

eastern seaboard) that think anything not directly on the coast of the Atlantic is simply "the west".

That term has always bothered me.

Objectively speaking, there is very little about the "midwest" that is west... except from the perspective of someone from NY or Maryland.
