most important contribution to victory, by far, is preventing the opponent’s offense from scoring when they have the ball. Our defense has consistently done a better-than-average job at this (every game but one). Offense has done worse than average against our opponents. We keep blaming the defense for offensive failings. Defense can play better, but if the offense did their job of scoring against the same quality of opposition as the defense does in preventing quality offenses from getting points we would not have losses to USF, Toledo, and possibly Utah.
