They were arguing whether or not Oregon had a shot after just getting done destroying USC. The answer was that because Oregon had lost to Auburn, they were out. Because Auburn wasn't good and there were other teams who had beaten Auburn and had a loss, but to a better team.

I couldn't help but think that if they've already written off Oregon due to their loss to Auburn, there is no way Utah has any shot at all with their loss to USC.

At the same time - if I was a Utah fan, I think I'd be pretty happy with a consolation prize of the Rose Bowl. Particularly because you've never been before. A playoff berth would be awesome, no doubt. But Utah would go in as a #4, and no one is going to remember who the #1 seed beat in a few years. But having the Rose Bowl banner to hang would be pretty cool.
