This is one of THE greatest atrocities in history. As a historian of 30 years, I've studied a LOT of tragic things, but
the Rape of Nanking is easily one of the most difficult I've ever had to learn about. If you haven't heard of John Rabe, you should read about him. He was a true hero amidst the backdrop of the Rape of Nanking. He helped save hundreds of thousands of Chinese civilians.
