Listen. It's OKAY that they have a formula for making really entertaining movies that bring in boatloads of cash. It is formulaic and most of the world likes the formula.
I think its good cinema too, IMO. That's a subjective topic of course. That's why I didn't respond to your point below. No argument there. It isn't risky though. It just isn't.
I don't really care all that much about risk in movies. I like original stories sometimes. I like the formula too. That's why I hope they keep making them. I hope mission impossible never stops, too.
But regardless, Feige sounds silly in his claims. He should have just wiped his tears with $100 bills and said, "Yeah that wasn't our goal. We just want to make insanely popular and entertaining movies."
