have been writing and confirm what I said. Thanks for the research.
Neither article says anywhere that they are taught to “hate” Mormons - which you assert several times. In fact both articles quote students and alumni as essentially saying that Mormons may be a cult or doctrinally wrong but it doesn’t make them bad. There were many supporting Glen Beck and Mitt Romney even though they didn’t agree with their religion.
One said "They just have their theology wrong," said Chad Atchison, a pre-law major from Arlington, VA, describing Mormons. "We don't look to hate anyone, or want to detract from anyone's beliefs. But we're not just going to say that there are many ways to heaven and that might be one of them. Anyone who's an evangelical will tell you there's only one way to heaven."
Isn’t that exactly what BYU teaches about other religions and groups like homosexuals? That we - don’t hate anyone but that it is a strait and narrow path to Heaven and only the LDS church has all the truth.
Other schools, conferences, social groups absolutely hold our past and current teachings on religion, race, and homosexuality against us and try to punish us because of our beliefs. They claim we are racist because of past teachings and claim we “hate” homosexuals. Yet we defend ourselves the same way they do - by saying it’s our job to stand by our beliefs and teach correct doctrine.
So in your opinion - no one should punish us for our teachings and positions but we should punish other schools for believing and teaching that our beliefs are wrong?
That seems pretty hypocritical.
