large club. Your question about: Ute fan/BYU hater is good one since at times, especially in the 70's, there may have been more BYU haters than Ute fans.
The hole hatred thing has poisoned both fan bases with respect to rivalries in general. Before Utah/BYU became the rivalry a Utah/USU rivalry existed which was quite cordial. Respect for the rival was commonplace. In discussions on Utefans some of us have pointed out the any new rival in the Pac-12 should not be chosen on a basis of hatred. The values differences between the cultures at BYU and Utah has lead to some bitterness which we should put behind us.
Going forward I suggest that as BSU or someone else becomes more of a rival you don't fall into the hatred which characterizes the BYU/UTAH rivaly. The same goes for Utah fans going forward. We don't need to hate USC to have a strong desire to defeat them. Both Utah and USC have spoiled one another's seasons and the route to PAC-12 South has usually gone through one or the other. As a storied program USC sees Utah as a lesser rival than Utah sees them, but over time it may change.
In any case the hatred is poisonous to sportsmanship.
