and beat Oregon by 3 TDs I think it makes a compelling statement. if they go out and eek out a win, it leaves room to let another 1 loss team from the SEC or Big 10 get picked over them if they have a statement win to finish the year. The powers that be that want marquee matchups with big name schools don't want Utah to be there. They want the Cash cow of the big name schools in there to drive up interest and revenue. Who knows? Even with a convincing win against Oregon they still may get left out.

kind of like a dodgers-yankees world series, vs an Astros-Nats WS. MLB brass and Fox I'm sure were disappointed that the dodgers and yankees didn't make it.
