I think Georgia and Alabama are both probably better than Utah, but this whole argument is ludicrous because in no other sport do we argue who the best team is (if we did the Nationals, Gonzaga and Toronto would never get a shot), but we argue who is the most deserving of a spot based on on field performance (aka who has earned it) and Utah has earned it more than any other team. They’ve controlled what they can control more than others.
An 8 team playoff would remedy much of this.
