I don't get switching allegiances, but I do understand finding a second team.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's with BYU athletics. It was great living through BYU's glory years. I will always and forever cheer for BYU. But, when the BYU BOT/Admin makes it blatantly clear that competing for championships in football is not a priority, it's not difficult to see why fans adopt a second team to cheer them on for something that is unimportant to BYU...as long as that second team is NEVER the YEW.
