How it works..
(Every school does it the same way... The difference is in the support staff)

Each assistant coach is assigned an area of the country. Its that coaches job to visit the high schools, create the contacts, and keep in touch with the recruits in his area. (You may be QB but your first contact from BYU may come from the DLine coach.)

A list of possible recruits is then built and sorted into graduation year, need at the position, etc.... and the proverbial recruiting wall is built.

Schools with money can afford to send their coaches out more. FCS schools will (for the most part) not even start recruiting until their season is over.

At most schools, Offers are made by committee. A player is presented to the coaching staff and they vote on if the kid gets an offer.

Again.. schools with money will do this with more flash, flair and *wow factor*. (as seen by Whittingham showing up to High School games in a Helicopter).
