I was surprised they were so confident about that because my understanding is
that any tipped ball by the defense, if the offense does not gain possession before it goes into the backcourt, is not a backcourt violation.

Yeah, I guess I don't know the rule, but that confused me too. The Utah guy knocked it out of our guy's hands
