Her being the first Vietnamese/Asian woman to star in Star Wars is not the issue...
The issue is that the director specifically wrote her into the movie, and she adds ZERO value... she's actually a negative value, and he ONLY added her to be the first Vietnamese/Asian woman to star in Star Wars... he forced that in for no other reason but for social reasons.... So essentially... they made her nationality and gender the issue with a pointless non-moving story.... when it turn made it a complaint because it added nothing and took away time that could have been used to develop the main characters story.

Adding her isn't what ruined the movie... but it's certainly a part of it. Instead of focusing on Rey and Luke... they spent way to much time focusing on something that meant nothing.
