Rose is the embodiment to me of Rian Johnson ignoring everything JJ set up in TFA. Finn clearly had a thing for Rey (he went from trying to desert to storming Starkiller base essentially on his own to try and save her. If that isn't motivated by romantic interest then I don't know what is). But suddenly in TLJ, that isn't a thing anymore and there is this new person with bad dialogue, and pointless story arc, and oh yeah, she and Finn are a thing now. And he did it just because he wanted to an Asian female lead.
