1. At the beginning, Louise is speaking with her mother who has been worked into a frenzy by watching the media. Louise is trying to settle her mother down and as part of that tells her mother not to watch "that channel" because they're idiots. Apparently, part of the reason her mother is in such a terrible state is because she watched "that" channel. This appears to be a clumsy shot at Fox News.
2. The intergalactic crisis is caused in part by a bunch of rogue soldiers. The main rogue soldier, before he causes problems, is seen watching a conservative talk-show host that bears no small resemblance to Rush in the way his show is set up, physical appearance and demeanor. The talk show host is advocating violence against the aliens of the kind the soldier eventually perpetrates. The implication is that the conservative media influenced the rogue soldier in his attack and the resulting crisis.
3. When Louise wakes up and asks what happened after the explosion where the soliders tried to kill the aliens in Montana, their commander says it was from soldiers who were watching too much TV, again alluding to the soldier watching the Rush type show.
Maybe you have to be a lit major to see a clear message in that, but having been one before law school, I would call it pretty obvious.
