The evidence contradicts your statement. He's had more success at Wazzu and

Texas Tech many before he was there, and nobody since him at Texas Tech has duplicated his success. It's easy to say "he doesn't focus on defense", but the facts matter here and he actually put together some pretty good teams. What he did consistently at Wazzu was quite impressive.
