This assumes a lot about choices. There are many factors that go into a

decision to buy a home. For me, proximity to work and schools trumps all other considerations. So yeah, I could put my kids in a crappy school and extend my commute by 15-20 minutes or I can accept an HOA. I think some HOA rules are fine. Some, like a 55+ rule, should be borderline illegal.
