"Research has shown that performing exercises that demand balance can reduce the rate of ankle sprains and other lower extremity injuries. Balance exercises are a frequent component of integrated ACL injury prevention programs, which have shown promise in reducing the rate of ACL injuries. Furthermore, a recent systematic review suggested that integrated injury prevention programs that included balance exercises in addition to plyometric or strength exercises greatly influenced the ability to improve lower extremity biomechanics. It is reasonable to believe that these improvements may reduce the risk of lower extremity injuries, such as ACL injuries."
