Love my job when it comes to things like this
You can be late, just be safe (bad roads). You can leave early if you need to. You can work from home if you need to. When my wife died I was out for a month, did no work, and still got paid. When I came back because I was going stir crazy my boss told me she didn't expect me to come back so soon.

No, it's better for you to stay home and be sick for a few days than "work through it" & infect 7 others at the office.
