My best friend from high school and roommate at BYU graduated in Econ. Then he got his PhD in Econ from MIT
He was at the Fed in DC for 18 years, including being Director of International Finance for about his last 5 years or so (he was there in 2008 when the banking crisis hit). He was chief economist for Chase for a few years, then was Undersecretary of the Treasury, appointed by President Obama. Now he's the chief economist for Prudential. He's also currently serving as a stake president. Very smart guy, and really a good dude.
