When I was young, I asked my mom why a lady in the ward had a glass eye. My mom
said something flew out of the garbage disposal and hit her in the eye (and blinded her in that eye). So, from a young age, my mom taught us to turn our head away when using the garbage disposal.

I have an irrational fear of dropping my cell phone down the narrow gap between the elevator and the floor.
