My HCBW didn't grow up with one, so shared your fears for a long time. As we
Have had one for the last ~14 years she has gotten used to it, and doesn't seem nearly as paranoid.
If I (or her) are reaching in though, we do make sure people are clear of the switch. Better safe than sorry.
