BYU I Bleed Blue All-American
So tired of posts saying we missed out on another LDS recruit! Especially those
that are Utah legacy kids. How many Polys do we have playing for BYU since Kalani came aboard? Can you imagine trying to recruit to BYU?

1. The Honor Code - No smoking, drinking, drugs, sex and yet many of those are allowed at most every other school.
2. The Social Challenges - If you are not a member, be prepared for a whole social cultural challenge that you have never experienced before. We experienced a little of that on the opposite side when we moved to Texas and my wife went to a track meet and she was the only white person sitting in the stands at that moment.
3. The Academic Standards - Incoming freshman GPA (3.82) and ACT (29) and you have to compete in the classroom with that. Now add in the fact of where you have grown up and academic standards at your high school.
4. Religion - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is my life, and is to most of the students here. If you're not a member, welcome to an environment like you have never been in. Good people, but we can be a bit extreme in so many ways.
5. No P5 - That is huge and is really out of our control. I know people have said that we could've been there back in 2010, etc. but there is no hard proof and nothing was guaranteed at that time. We are having to compete with that stigma, but G5 is definitely not the answer and is a step back.
6. Mediocre record - Until we start winning regularly and having 9-4 or 10+ season wins we will consistently face challenges recruiting. Yet, we do have very good players who just may not have gotten some of the stars because they may have committed early. Pretty tough though to hold on to some of these teenage kids when the big boys from the P5 come calling.

Look over the roster and you will see a lot of Polys that are here because of Kalani and the staff, but it is easy to gloss over if we only look at the higher ranked recruits.
