Haha I actually dont. Recently, I was explaining non-native english speakers how
to say it. And they were pronouncing it as 'cloths' or 'cloth-es', I told them to say 'close' instead.
IMO close and clothes are essentially homophones except for a very soft 'th'.
Actually it looks like some people do classify them as homophones.
