Oh brother!
A delay was implied. I don’t know anyone in their right mind who would expect to be able to just not pay for something.
On a lease, I would expect that a delay in payment would mean the lease would extend by the same amount of time.
On a mortgage, the missed payments would still have to be paid, plus interest.
