is dumb that 100% of it isn't going towards unemployment and directly helping those affected by the shutdowns and closures and obviously the sick.
But then I see the merit in what I perceive that they are trying to do, they want "extra" money in most peoples hands so that they will spend it on small business (eating out etc) and then when this ends not feeling like they barely scraped by, so that they economy can keep moving. But I get the feeling there will be quite a lot of people that won't actually spend it or spend more just because they have it due to them being worried about how long this is going to last.
Sorry if my post came off as directed specifically at you, its probably wrong and maybe a bad attitude to have but I find it difficult to feel sorry for anyone that makes that kind of money. I don't envy them or despise them, but I just feel sad that they can make that kind of money and be hurting through this even with a drop from $300k down to $200k, that sucks but they are still better off than 90%+ of the US, sure they might have to make drastic lifestyle changes but maybe that will get them to rethink their priorities and from my point of view "out of control spending"
