I think that the restrictions put in place have made a difference and have helped.
But - I never thought 40 million people were going to die worldwide - or however many million they were predicting for the USA alone.
And I also don't think that the economy has been damaged beyond recovery - though I certainly acknowledge that some people are going through some extreme financial distress right now and more people will be hurt before this is done - some catastrophically.
I just think reality is in the middle. I think some restrictions were needed. I think they've helped. I have no idea how LONG they need to be in place or how much they've helped. But I do think they've also caused great harm (temporarily) to a great number of people. I'm not sure how to balance that - meaning I have no idea if/when restrictions should be lifted. I'm pretty cautious because I'd hate for us to undo everything that was done with the initial restrictions thus far. I do believe that with expanded testing and contact tracing, we'll be able to get a better handle on sick people and put parts of our society back to work.
