No one likes big government until the money comes their way. I hate that this is happening. I am going to postpone retirement and continue working to leave money for my kids and grandkids. They are going to need it.
I don't bet often, but I am betting they will authorize more money before this is over. We shall see. Whether you are right or I am right, either way it has bad consequences.
Per a Scottish Lord hundreds of years ago when speaking in favor of monarchy and royal rule:
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."
Frightening - this is on all of us, the voters. The majority votes for what is best for them versus the greater good and have fueled the current polarity in our government. Republican versus Democrat. Rich versus Poor. Boomer versus Millennial...the list goes on and on.
