Absolutely should be waiting to mass prescribe drugs outside a clinical trial
Azithromycin and HCQ together are both agents that prolong the QT. Without drug trials, we won't know if we are causing death from torsades more than we are saving.

My wife is still convinced that Tamiflu prevented her from being hospitalized when she got the flu. The data says otherwise. That's why we listen to the data, not anecdotal or crappy studies.

We will have randomized placebo controlled trials with early analysis ready in a couple of months. These have already started. If they return saying HCQ improved mortality, then I'll prescribe it. Notice, however, that the good trials are NOT combing azithromycin with HCQ due to QT prolongation.
