mantra that the ute coaches are really good at developing players into something more than they were ranked as a recruit. He probably thinks the ute coaches are going to turn Kaufusi into and NFL player whereas the BYU coaches couldn't.
I actually don't want to say coaches deserve no credit for developing players because that isn't true but the amount of time the guys that turn out to be great put in on their own simply dwarfs the amount of time they spend with their college coaches, any college player would tell you that. Coaches provide guidance but players are the ones that have to put in the time.
My son spends more time, much more time, with his private QB coach than with the college QB coach. He can spend an unlimited amount of time with his private coach, at least as much as I'm willing to pay for, and the same goes with working out with the other players, they can spend as much time working out with each other as they want to spend, but the actual college coaches are limited in that respect by NCAA rules.
It is just how it is.
