I disagree. It hasn’t made society anything, it just moved it out front.
What we see on social media is a reflection of our true society.
The primping instagram mamas are the same kids who printed and preened for hours before going to high school.
The hate and anger is the same but instead of venting to a spouse or parent or friend in the park we vent to the world.
Instagram just allows us to share the parts of us that are better kept controlled by civil discourse and thoughtful introspection.

Completely agree, except your verbiage “net negative.” I’d suggest “overwhelming negative” and maybe still understated
