this sheds some light

I am guessing that it brings somewhere between 3-6m a year in actual cash, and a ton of free product. I am not a Nike guy, as I competed with them for the first 37 years of my career, on the wholesale shoe ( Avia, And 1, Asics ) and licensed side ( The Game, Majestic, later Zephyr, and Mitchell and Ness ) . In fact, let me share a story.

I represented a company called the Game, we made the hats Lavell wore on the sidelines for about 12 years. We paid the school/Lavell, $1000 a game if they were on TV, and $500 a game if they were not. That was the going rate back then. When BYU opened up against Texas A & M at home one year, we were unveiling a new Lavell hat. To our dismay, he ran out of the tunnel wearing a Nike hat, ( we had sold all the local retailers, on the fact that we would again be supplying him his sideline hat ) and the Equipment manager, avoided us like the plaque from that point on. My sideline priveledge went away, and it was just like that. The Swoosh had spoken, and it was over. Sobering lesson! Years later, due to a personal connection, I would often stand on the sideline again, many times with a Nike exec, and we would joke about his evil empire. ( one year in South Bend on national TV, I had to cover up the UA label on BYU gear I was wearing ) I love alot of people that work for Nike, and they are an incredible machine, but I will never be tempted to wear their product, and really never have.

By the way, I am glad so many of you here, speak so fondly and favorably of my guy Zephyr, he truly is one of the best, and makes a great product.
