Yeah if anything he is being accused of NOT playing to white guilt and he’s
being accused right now of glorifying the founding fathers and not saying enough about their role in slavery.

The genius of Hamilton is that he took an older story and source material and told the tale in a modern rhythm to make it interesting to the ear of a new audience. Just like Shakespeare used iambic pentameter, Miranda used hip hop to tell a story on a stage. For anyone that has seen what kind of productions have been successful on broadway in the past... it’s obvious to see that Hamilton is somewhat revolutionary.

I’ve heard no one claim that his rhymes are better than that of the most famous rappers in the world or that he himself is a great rapper... that’s not really the point of why it’s such a phenomenon. He didn’t make these songs to compete with rap songs on a rap radio station. He made songs he thought could work on a broadway stage to cater to a broadway audience but that could also invite new listening ears. And he did a phenomenal job at that. In my opinion the rhymes and performance aren’t as bad as you’re suggesting. I listen to a fair amount of hip hop and there’s a lot of crap out there on the radio of rappers who aren’t very good, are monotone or rely on uncreative rhymes and themes or just straight up copy others. Hamilton is fine.
